Save the Date by Mary Kay Andrews

Cara is a florist in Savannah, trying to establish her fledgling floral shop after leaving her cheating husband. But life is out to get her. The cooler where she keeps her flowers breaks as she's preparing for a big wedding. Her father is demanding a repayment of the loan he made to her. And then someone takes her beloved dog, claiming it's his dog. Then a wealthy new florist competitor opens a shop not far from hers, with a goal of being the go-to florist in Savannah. But then it looks like her luck may be changing when she gets the chance to do flowers for a huge society wedding. However, the bride seems disinterested. The stepmother is trying to take over. And the new competitor is furious that he didn't get the job.

From that description this book sounds very somber, but it's not. There's a little romance, a lot of bridezillas and their even crazier families, and a chance for the little guy to come out ahead. I loved Cara, who refused to give up on her dream despite all the obstacles. And you want her to find true love because she's such a nice person.

Perfect pandemic read.
