Storm Watch by CJ Box

CJ Box really does know how to write about snow. You can feel the snow melting down your neck and experience the limited visibility out your car window. Which is good because there are severe huge storms in this book. The story starts with game warden Joe Pickett finding the body of a dead professor out in the wild, after which, someone shoots at him. When he tries to report the death, he's told to forget about it, which makes him thinks there's something big going on, which turns out to be an accurate insight. There's a major anti-government plot afoot and both Joe and his best friend Nate get sucked into it. Quite the page-turner.
