Happy Place by Emily Henry

I was looking for a good beach book as we head into summer. Happy Place seemed like it would fit the bill. It's a good story about a long-time group of friends who are trying to adapt to their changing lives over the course of a week in Maine. What drove me crazy is that Harriet (a surgical resident) seemed to get the vapors every time she was in the vicinity of her ex-fiance, Winn. And since the friends (who didn't know the two had broken up) had given them the fanciest bedroom in the house with only one bed, she seemed to be getting the vapors on pretty much every page.

There were important lessons about figuring out what you really wanted in life and going for it--and about finding a "family" when your real family wasn't the most supportive. But there was a little too much "romance novel" for me. I also wasn't crazy about the ending.
