The Shanghailanders by Juli Min

This was a highly compelling book. It starts in 2040 then goes backward in time to 2014. It tells the story of the Yang family--Chinese Leo, his Japanese/French wife Eko, and their three daughters. I loved the way the author included the impact of current events such as Covid and hypothesized what life would be like in the future, ie, with self-driving cars and rising water levels. If I have time, I will read it again, now that I know how it starts and ends. The chapter about the family nanny (hired during Covid) was one of my favorites.
