Sandwich by Catherine Newman

 Sandwich tells the story of a menopausal women (Rachel/Rocky) spending the week on Cape Cod with her 2 grown kids (Willa and Jamie), her son's girlfriend (Maya), and her own aging parents. She is the sandwich between the generations. She misses having her kids around. She's a roiling ball of hormones, which her husband (Nick) bears the brunt of. And she's worried about her increasingly frail parents. And in between, there are lobster dinners, an iffy septic system, trips to the beach, a trip to the emergency room, and the emergence of long-held secrets.
