The French Ingredient by Jane Bertch

Jane was an all-American girl from Chicago working for a bank in London when her boss asked her if she was interested in a job in Paris. Since she wasn't exactly fluent in French, she thought about it for a while then decided to go for it. And thus began her journey of trying to understand the French. She eventually decided to open a cooking school for non-professional cooks who wanted to learn French cooking. Then had to deal with everything from terrorist attacks in Paris to the Covid pandemic. It's a fascinating tale, told with a sense of humor.
