Mastering the art of French murder by Colleen Cambridge
This is the first in a series set in Paris after WW2 and featuring a girl from Michigan (Tabitha) who moves in with her grandfather and his special friend, Rafe--and across the street from Julia Child. Tabitha clearly has not heard the phrase "curiosity killed the cat" because her curiosity almost gets her killed twice.
Julia's sister Dot works for a small theatre company. Tabitha meets some of the members of the theater troupe at a small party, including a woman named Therese, who seems to want to have a word with Tabitha as they are leaving the party. But Tab is tired so she says goodnight as Therese is waiting for her taxi. The next day, Tab finds out that Therese has been murdered. Then another member of the troupe is murdered. And the more Tab digs into the murders, the more she annoys the police inspector assigned to the cases, and the more danger she finds herself in.
It will be interesting to see what Tabitha gets herself into next--and if she ever learns how to cook.
