Liar Liar by KJ Larsen

Fans of the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich might want to check out Liar Liar by the sister writing team called K J Larsen. The heroine, Cat DeLuca, owns the Pants on Fire Detective Agency in Chicago and is much more competent than Stephanie Plum. But there is a lot of the same kind of humor as in the Plum books. The story starts out simply enough when a woman hires Cat to follow her husband. Only it turns out not to be her husband and he turns up dead after an explosion that lands Cat in the hospital. But is he really dead and what is really going on? The basic mystery is interesting. There's a goofy family, there's flirting, there's expensive footwear being sacrificed for the greater good. All the elements you need for good fluff. I look forward to Cat's next adventure.
