The Taken by Inger Ash Wolfe

I really liked the beginning of this book. The main character is a 60 something cop named Hazel in Ontario, recovering from major back surgery and forced to live with her ex and his new wife while she recuperates. And for that reason alone, I may read another book in this series. But that is the only reason. The crime the cops are trying to solve in this book is so muddled and hard to follow and the action just bogs down in the middle of the book. I finally gave up, read the last 5 pages, and took it back to the library. So while I can't recommend this one, I do think this author has potential and I'm interested to see what she comes up with next.
