Ice Run by Steve Hamilton

Ice Run is another in the engaging "Alex McKnight" series by Steve Hamilton. In this episode, Alex gets entangled in an old family feud involving his girlfriend (Canadian cop) Natalie's family. There are plenty of twists and turns and long-buried secrets suddenly coming to life. And then there's winter in northern Michigan to deal with. And indeed, winter becomes almost another character in the story as the snow keeps piling up and the winds keep blowing, hampering everyone's movements. I particularly loved the descriptions of nearly deserted Mackinac Island in the winter. Excellent series--I'm looking forward to finding the rest of the books at my local library.
