A Week in Winter by Maeve Binchy

Reading a Maeve Binchy book is like sipping hot chocolate in front of the fire on a snowy day. It's just a cozy way to spend the day. In a Week in Winter, the colorfully named Chicky Starr returns to Ireland from a long stay in America and decides to open an inn on the cliffs overlooking the ocean. Everyone thinks she's daft but she is convinced this plan will be a wild success. She is helped by Rigger (who has been exiled to the country after making some bad decisions in the big city) and her niece Orla. The story focuses on the first group of guests to stay at the inn--an American movie star, husband and wife physicians, a Swedish businessman with musical aspirations, an embittered school principal who has just retired and others. If you've read MB's earlier books, you'll recognize characters and places that pop up in this story. Sadly, Maeve Binchy passed away last year, so this will be her last book.
