The Crowded Grave by Martin Walker

I normally love this series featuring Bruno, the only cop in the small French town of St. Denis. But The Crowded Grave was not my favorite. The main plot involves Basque terrorists planning an attack in St. Denis. So there are a lot of outsiders in town trying to head that off. Which means that a lot of the regulars are missing in action from this story. Plus Bruno's romantic life is not going well. And there weren't as many scenes of life in small town France as in earlier books. If you're new to this series, read one of the other books--Bruno Chief of Police, Black Diamond or Dark Vineyard instead.
