The Gods of Guilt by Michael Connelly

Mickey Haller (The Lincoln Lawyer) is back with another case. A  prostitute is found dead and Mickey realizes she is a former client he thought he had helped start a new life. Mickey agrees to represent the man accused of her murder and quickly realizes there is a lot more going on than just the death of a prostitute.

At the same time, he's trying to deal with his estrangement from his ex-wife and his daughter due to the outcome of his last big case.(And I have to say, I must have missed the last book in this series because I didn't remember the case or the estrangement.) Anyway, Mickey is kind of distracted, which turns out not to be a good thing in this particular case.

I love the Harry Bosch series by this author and this series is a close second. If you like a good mystery well told, check out The Gods of Guilt.
