That Part Was True by Deborah McKinlay

Eve is a British, middle age divorcee who writes a letter to American author Jackson Cooper to tell him how much she loved a scene involving peaches in one of his books. And thus begins a correspondence and friendship between two people who would likely never have crossed paths otherwise.

Eve has a grown daughter who doesn't seem to like her very much and a problem with panic attacks. Jackson can't seem to stay committed to any one woman and is suffering from writers block. But the two discover a mutual love of cooking, which lays the foundation for their friendship. Eventually they help each other learn from the mistakes they've made. It's a charming story and a quick read.
