Summer Secrets by Jane Green

Cat is a writer in London, living the good life and kind of vaguely aware that she might have a drinking problem. Maybe it's the blackouts. Or waking up with total strangers. Or the fact that
"just one drink" always leads to one more and one more. One day she wakes up in a strange bed to find a hunky guy named Jason asleep on the sofa. While they're definitely attracted to each other,
Jason really took her in because he is a recovering alcoholic himself and can see that she needs help.
Because Cat is hoping to impress Jason, she cuts way back on her drinking and even attends AA meetings with him, though she's still not convinced that she really has a problem. Then her mother drops a bombshell on her, which sends her off to Nantucket, where she makes some ill-advised choices that will haunt her for years to come.

There is a LOT of drinking in this book. The Nantucket clan in particular can't seem to get through the day without heavy imbibing--and they don't see anything wrong with their lifestyle. It takes a real crisis with her family for Cat to hit rock bottom and make a concerted effort to get her life under control. She is a sympathetic heroine so you do cheer her on and hope things turn out well. Not exactly a light summer read, but it is a good story.
