Green-eyed Lady by Chuck Greaves

One of my librarian friends recommended the "Jack McTaggert" series by Chuck Greaves and I have been thoroughly enjoying them. Jack is a lawyer at a small firm. His newest case involves a politician who gets arrested for stealing an expensive painting after he stops to help the titular green-eyed lady. The painting keeps appearing then disappearing, the green-eyed lady (who had a colorful past) ends up dead, and there's a big election fast approaching. The whole thing is told with a sense of wry good humor. If you're in the mood for an enjoyable diversion, check out this series.
