I Know a Secret by Tess Gerritsen

I'm always amazed at how different the Rizzoli and Isles books are from the Rizzoli and Isles TV show. In the books, Jane and Maura work together but definitely are not out shoe shopping or splitting a pizza. And while Jane's personality is close to that in the book, the literary Maura is always serious and somber and is indeed known as The Ice Queen. She's also in love with a priest. And the TV show definitely didn't go there.

Anyway, Secret is the newest book about Jane and Maura. It starts with the discovery of the body of a female film maker whose eyes have been removed. Maura is stumped by the cause of death. Then a man's body is found with arrows coming out of his chest. Both victims had been drugged but once again there is no obvious cause of death--which leads Jane to think they're related. At the same time, we're getting alternate chapters narrated by a mysterious woman named Holly, whose role isn't clear till the end of the book.

Though it was a little gruesome, Secret is a good story. And if you like this version of Jane and Maura, you'll like the book.
