The Third Victim by Phillip Margolin

A passerby rescues a battered woman running from the woods. She claims to have escaped from a man who kidnapped and tortured her. The police think her injuries resemble those found on two recent murder victims and are ecstatic that she escaped and can give them clues to find the killer. The evidence leads to an arrogant, wealthy lawyer who loudly proclaims he's being framed--and he's sure he knows who's doing the framing. The suspect hires renowned defense attorney Regina Barrister--who has a secret of her own that could impact the case. Good story with lots of twists and turns. I particularly liked the people on Regina's staff--fellow lawyer Robin and investigator Jeff--and would like to see more of them in a future book.
