Edge of Evil by J A Jance

I finally found the first "Ali Reynolds" novel in the library, after having read all of the newest ones. It's always nice to see how a series starts. In this volume, we learn how Los Angeles TV newscaster Ali gets laid off (for being too old) and moves back to Sedona, Arizona. She is trying to figure out what led to the death of her high school best friend, Reenie, whose car went off a cliff. Most people figure it was suicide (after receiving a devastating diagnosis) but Ali is sure that's not the Reenie she knows. Of course, when Ali gets too close to uncovering the truth, her life is in danger. But she is nothing if not resourceful and resilient. Good summer read.
