Lincoln in the Bardo by George Saunders

President Abraham Lincoln's young son Willie dies of an infection. That is the precipitating event for Lincoln in the Bardo. The story, such as it is, is set the night of the funeral in the cemetery where young Willie's body was taken. Most of the characters are dead people stuck in a sort of limbo on the way to their final destination--who seem to be unaware that they are in fact dead.

My book group is meeting this week to discuss this selection and it will be interesting to see what everyone has to say.
