The Salt Path by Raynor Winn

Just when you think things can't worse, they do. Raynor Winn finds out her beloved husband Moth has a terminal illness--then a few days later, they lose their home, family farm, and their source of income after mistakenly putting their trust in a friend. In their 50s, this long-married couple is suddenly homeless. Raynor decides they need to keep moving so she suggests that they walk the 630 miles of the South West Coast Path--the longest national trail in Britain. With only what they can carry and the little cash they have left, they set off on the journey of a lifetime.

This is, believe it or not, a true story. I love this couple. These two have been together since they were teenagers and being together in the struggle is what kept them going through their grueling journey.

If this book sounds too depressing to read, it's not. The two of them definitely have a sense of humor
(Why do people keep calling us old?) And the descriptions of the natural wonders they see make me want to head over to that neck of the woods. I highly recommend this book.
