Blood Oath by Linda Fairstein

I usually love this series featuring sex crimes DA lawyer Alexandra Cooper. There's usually an interesting case and a setting of a historical place in New York City that plays a major role. The main case in Blood Oath features a young woman who says she was raped as a young teen by a prominent member of the legal profession. Alex and her cop partner Mercer are trying to figure out if she's telling the truth and whether they can get enough evidence--since many years have passed--to actually convict the guy. At the same time, Alex's friend Frannie has been struck with a mysterious ailment--which is adding to Alex's stress level.

Though I'm a big fan of this series, this one seemed more depressing than usual. A lot of the first half of the book consists of Alex and Mercer questioning young Lucy about the details of her rape, over and over. The historical setting in this instance was Rockefeller University, which did have an interesting story--and which is the site of the page-turner ending of this novel.

Love the series but this was not my favorite book in the series.
