The Editor by Stephen Rowley

Truthfully, I thought this book was nonfiction, but it's not.

Francis is a writer in NYC in the early 1990s. One day he gets word that a publishing company is interested in publishing his first book. When he goes to meet his editor, he is astonished to discover that it's Jackie Kennedy. And so begins their work relationship--and a friendship. Francis has a lot of family issues (mostly dealing with his parents) to work out and Jackie tells him he has to address them to find the right ending for his book (which is loosely based on his mother's life). I liked the Jackie parts more than the family angst (and boyfriend angst) parts, but it's still an interesting story.
