Have You Seen Me by Kate White

Ally Linden shows up at work early one more looking bedraggled and without her purse. She settles in at a table to start working and her boss (and boyfriend), Damien, comes up and asks what she's doing there. It turns out, Ally hasn't worked at the company for 5 years--and she's married to a guy named Hugh. It also turns out that the last 2 days of her life have totally disappeared from her memory banks. Damien calls an ambulance when Ally collapses in front of him. And that begins her journey of trying to figure out what the heck is going on.

There's a lot of good psychological-thriller ambiance in this book. Hugh is acting kind of strangely once Ally gets home. Damien keeps calling to check on her. Sasha, her obnoxious intern at work, keeps trying to take advantage of the situation to further her own career. Ally's best friend isn't returning her texts and the PI she hired stops returning her calls. Then she gets a call from the police in the town where she grew up about a cold case she was involved in as a child. Ally gets more and more frantic. She bounces around like a pinball, ignoring everyone's advice--so it's kind of exhausting following her on her journey.

I kind of foresaw the ending because someone was acting particularly fishy, which turned out to be an important clue. But it's a good summer read, if you're just looking for a way to while away a summer weekend.
