I found another old JP Beaumont e-book on the library website, Long Time Gone. It has a gripping start: a small child left home alone witnesses her next door neighbor getting murdered. Then we flash forward to 50 years later when the small child is a nun and starts remembering the murder she had suppressed in her mind for all those years. And that opens up a whole can of worms. Beau ends up working on the case and realizes someone doesn't want anyone looking into this decades-old murder. At the same, Beau's best friend Ron is under arrest because his ex-wife has turned up dead right after threatening to sue for custody of their daughter. And Beau is realizing he may have more than just a working relationship with the lovely Mel Soames.
