Dear Edward by Ann Napolitano

 If you're looking for a book that's sad, heart-warming, gripping, and unforgettable, Dear Edward is the book for you. The Edward in the title is a 12-year-old boy who is the lone survivor of a terrible plane crash. The story alternates between his road to recovery and what happened on the plane that fatal day. We meet  and learn the stories of many of the passengers on the plane that day--one is pregnant, one is heading to life as a retiree, one is heading to LA for an experimental cancer treatment--so when the plane crashes, it makes the story even sadder. 

I loved the character of Edward, who is a wise old soul and you hope he has a long and happy future with the sassy girl (Shay) who lives next door.
