The Overdue Life of Amy Byler by Kelly Harms

Amy Byler is a single mom librarian in Pennsylvania whose husband, John, one day 3 years earlier announced that he was moving to Hong Kong. She struggled to keep the family going, got a job as a school librarian, and  was fairly content with her life--until said wandering husband shows back up and says he wants to reconnect with their kids.  She decides that, for the kids' own good, it would be good to have their father back in their lives, so she signs up to go to NYC for a librarian conference and a visit with her old friend Talia, a fashion magazine editor.

When she gets to NYC, things don't exactly go as smoothly as she had hoped--but one bright spot is that she meets "hot librarian" Daniel, who comes up to her all enthused about the presentation she has just given. Through a series of events Amy ends up spending the whole summer in NYC, torn between loving the single life and missing her kids. And she has a lot of time to think about what she really wants out of life, how much of the breakup of her marriage was her fault, and whether she can have a future with the hot librarian.

I loved the characters in this book--Amy, Daniel, her 2 best friends (Lena and Talia), and her 2 kids. The style is breezy and funny, but the author makes some serious points about the choices people make.
