Where the grass is green and the girls are pretty by Lauren Weisberger

Peyton is a successful news anchor, happily married to Isaac, and mother to "Max" (a daughter). As she's leaving work one day, she finds out her husband has been arrested for paying to get their daughter into Princeton. Peyton's network puts her on leave. Max is furious at Isaac. And Isaac is pretty furious himself --at Peyton, who was the one who actually wrote the check, even though he had told her not to. Then there are more ramifications--for Peyton's sister Skye, who had been raising funds for a charitable project close to her heart. For Max's college plans. For Isaac's future.

This is an interesting character study mainly focusing on Peyton, Max, and Skye, the ripple effects of Peyton's misguided attempt to help her daughter, and how they all try to salvage their relationships and make things right. Good story, good characters.
