Left on Tenth by Delia Ephron

Writer Delia Ephron, sister to Nora, had quite a run of bad luck. Nora died of blood cancer. Delia's husband, Jerry, died of prostate cancer, then she herself discovered she had blood cancer. But with the help of her wonderful second husband, Peter, a great medical team, and steadfast friends, she survived.

Parts of the book are hard to read as she goes through chemo, a stem cell transplant, and a very long recovery, always with Peter by her side. But Peter is convinced there is a light at the end of the tunnel and he is proven correct. (We should all have a person like Peter in our lives.) And I loved the always stylish and compassionate Dr Roboz.

This is probably not the book to read if you or a family member has gone through cancer treatment, but it does show the importance of the human spirit and friendship.
