The Homewreckers by Mary Kay Andrews

Hallie is a young widow who renovates houses in Savannah with her father in law. She has bitten off more than she could chew with a money pit house and the only way to save the company is to agree to do a reality TV show called The Homewreckers with an arrogant designer from LA named Trae. She buys an old beach house with every cent she can beg or borrow and starts renovating. But one thing after another goes wrong. And then a worker finds, inside the house, the wallet of Hallie's favorite high school teacher, who disappeared one stormy night 17 years earlier.

I thought Hallie might be a good match for Mak the cop, a widower, who is investigating the case of the missing teacher. But the author had other ideas.

It always seems like these Mary Kay Andrews books will be like Hallmark movies, but they're not. There's always a lot more going on in her stories than just boy meets girl.

Good characters, quick read. Great book for a long summer plane ride or day at the beach.
