Sparring Partners by John Grisham

 Rather than one long novel, Sparring Partners is comprised of 3 novellas. The first features Jake Brigand, the lawyer from Time to Kill, and his friend Mack Stafford, a lawyer who left his wife, family, and law practice and went on the lam several years earlier. The second involves a young man on Death Row on the last night of his life. That was the saddest story, especially when we find out his back story and how he landed on Death Row. The last features the bickering Malloy brothers, their domineering father (now in jail for killing their mother) and the woman who is really running their law firm, without the title or the salary. 

All three stories were totally different but good. Quick read.
