Den of Iniquity by JA Jance

 The newest JA Jance features ex-cop, now PI, JP Beaumont. He gets a call from a cop named Ben who had been a little boy that Beau crossed paths with years earlier, when Ben's whole family was murdered. Ben wants Beau to look into a case of a supposed overdose that the victim's grandmother is convinced was murder. Once he starts looking, Beau realizes that this may not be the only OD that was actually a murder and soon the hunt is on for a serial killer. The other main plot involves Beau's grandson Kyle showing up on his doorstep and looking for a place to live because he can't deal with his parents anymore. And then there's the advent of COVID, which also plays a role in the story.

As always, I love the JP Beaumont books. I love his wife Mel and now I love Kyle, too. Can't wait for the next installment.
