It's Elementary by Elise Bryant

Mavis is a frazzled, time-challenged single mom of a 7-year-old daughter working for a non-profit, where she just got passed over for a promotion she thought she was getting. Suffice it to say, she is not in the mood when Trisha the head of the PTA at her daughter's school, asks her to be the PTA diversity coordinator (which Mavis is sure is because she is one of the few Black moms at the school). She tries to get out of it but Trisha is relentless.  The night of her first PTA meeting, Mavis meets the new principal, who, that same night, vanishes. As she's walking her dog later, Mavis sees Trisha with bleach, rubber gloves, and several large garbage bags near the school. That doesn't look too suspicious. Could Tricia have offed the principal? Mavis finds an ally, fellow sleuth, -- and possible romantic partner -- in hunky school psychologist, Jack. Together they set out to find out what happened to Principal Smith -- and whether Trisha was behind it.

Mavis is a likeable, relatable heroine. You really hope 1) she finds a job where they appreciate her, 2) she has a long-term relationship with good-guy Jack, and 3) she finally remembers to throw that load of laundry in the dryer.
