Good Page Turners

The Lion by Nelson DeMille continues the story of ex-cop, current terrorist fighter John Corey. The Libyan terrorist from Lion's Game is back, with John and his wife (FBI agent Kate) firmly in his sights. The action is non stop, as is John's sardonic sense of humor. Good beach book.

If you've been caught up in the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo craze, you might like fellow Scandinavian Jo Nesbo's "Harry Hole" series. The Devil's Star is the latest installment. Harry is a police detective in Oslo, Norway. In this installment, his career and his personal life are in shambles. His boss and long-time defender is finally forced to tell Harry his career is at an end but before he leaves, he must help solve the murder of a woman found with a unique gem (the devil's star) on her body. Harry reminded me of Andy Sipowicz from the old NYPD Blue tv show--no matter how screwed up his personal life was, he was always the best detective on the force.
This book piqued my interest and made me seek out earlier books from the series.

  1. I didn't read the book, but just saw the movie Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Probably will not read it now, but will start with the second book in the series.
