Movie review: The Lunchbox

A beautiful young wife in Mumbai feels her husband's attention is straying so she tries to win him back with food. Each morning she cooks a succulent feast for his lunch then sends it off to his office via the traditional dabbawallas (who use bikes and other modes of transport to pick up and deliver the hand-made lunches--from wives and restaurants all over the city). When the containers comes back totally empty but her husband doesn't say anything about the lunch (except to comment on an ingredient she hadn't used), she realizes that someone else got the lunch--and really appreciated it. So the next day she includes a note with the lunch. And thus begins a correspondence between the beautiful young wife and  a sad widower who is about to retire from a boring accounting job. Soon they both realize that these notes from a total stranger are the highlight of their day. The Lunchbox is a charming movie about an unlikely friendship.
