The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith

Lula Landry is a supermodel with the face of an angel. One night, she goes flying off the terrace of her London apartment. The cops are convinced it was a suicide but Lula's half-brother John isn't so sure.
He hires Army vet/PI Cormoran Strike to find out the truth.

Strike is kind of at a low point in his life. He's lost a leg in Afghanistan. Lost the girlfriend with whom he was living and is forced to camp out in his shabby office for lack of funds. But he is a good detective and his dogged persistence, along with the help of a feisty temp named Robin, help him figure out what the cops missed. Cormoran is a fascinating character and I like his relationship with Robin. I can't wait for the next book in this new series (by the author of the Harry Potter books under a pseudonym) to come out this summer.
