The Guilty by David Baldacci

The Guilty continues the saga of government sharpshooters Will Robie and Jessica Reel.
Robie is on an assignment when he accidentally kills someone besides his target. His guilt starts messing with his head and his handler tells him to take some time off--and also that Will's father has been arrested for murder back in Mississippi. Will hasn't talked to his father in 20 years, since he snuck off into the night, so his father doesn't exactly welcome him with open arms. But Will is determined to find out who the real killer is. However, that process stirs up a hornet's nest, putting Will, Jessica (who shows up in the nick of time), and Will's new-found stepmother and stepbrother in danger. I have to say I did not see the end coming.
