The Sixth Idea by PJ Tracy

I love this series about computer geeks working for the good of society. In the latest installment,
the Minneapolis police have come across a series of murders that at first seem random then seem oddly connected. They're also trying to find an elderly man with Alzheimer's who disappeared from his nursing home and an elderly man with ALS who was kidnapped from his home. It turns out that those two cases are also linked--and the common thread seems to be something called The Sixth Idea.

It's a real page-turner and a little frightening when we find out what The Sixth Idea really is--especially because in a note at the end, the authors say parts of the story are based on actual events.

If you're unfamiliar with this series, start at the beginning with Monkeewrench.
