Crime Scene by Jonathon and Jesse Kellerman

This is the beginning of a new series that's a little lighter in tone than the Alex Delaware series by Jonathon K. I haven't read anything by Jesse K so I can't speak to his usual tone. The main character is Clay Edison, a deputy coroner in California.He's assigned to a case of a man, Walter Rennert, who appears to have died from a fall down the stairs. But Clay knows that deaths are not always what they seem. And the dead man's daughter is convinced someone pushed her father down the stairs. So Clay, who is a little smitten with the daughter, promises to investigate further. And that leads him to a possibly related death and a murder in the past.

It was a good story and a quick read. And I would be interested in the further adventures of Clay Edison.
