My Mrs. Brown by William Norwich

If you're in the mood for a sweet story, check out My Mrs Brown. The titular Mrs Brown is a widow in small town Rhode Island who works a number of low-paying jobs and has a kind word for everyone. When the richest woman in town dies, Mrs Brown is hired to help sort through her things and she falls in love with an Oscar di la Renta dress that the woman owned. Mrs Brown's mission becomes trying to save enough money to buy a dress like that. She gets some unexpected help from several people who recognize what a good soul she is. It's a charming tale with a touching ending when we find out why she wants the dress so much.
