Two suggestions: Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder about Dr. Paul Farmer's efforts to bring health care to Haiti and Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, a graphic novel about the Iranian Revolution. Both books generated excellent discussions in my book group.
