Game Change by Heilemann and Halperin

I already knew how it ended but I couldn't stop reading. That was the appeal of Game Change, a behind-the-scenes look at the 2008 presidential election. The campaign itself seemed to drag on forever and yet there was so much going on that us non-insiders had no clue about. The Clinton campaign seemed so buttoned-up but apparently wasn't. John Edwards wanted to be Attorney General. John Kerry wanted to be Secretary of State.
John McCain really wanted Joe Lieberman as his running mate. Who knew? The book is worth reading just for the section on how Sarah Palin ended up on the ticket--and how soon afterward, some of those who had chosen her were seriously rethinking that choice.

We'll soon be heading into another presidential election cycle,
and this book will have you looking at campaigning in a whole new light.
