Two quick movie reviews

Here are two quick movie reviews: I found Zero Dark Thirty engrossing, even though it's kind of long and you already know how it ends. And I must say that Jessica Chastain is a heck of an actress. It's hard to believe the same woman is playing the driven CIA agent in this movie and the ditzy housewife in The Help. Jason Clarke is also very good as a fellow CIA agent. Be forewarned, there is a lot of violence in this movie. Amour, on the other hand, was the most depressing movie I have ever seen in my life. It's basically the story of a long-married couple in Paris living a good life when the wife has a bad stroke. The husband (who looks kind of frail himself) pretty much singlehandedly takes on her care. She continues to deteriorate. He looks more and more haggard. By the end, you're just praying that you don't end up as either the patient or the caregiver in such a situation. Emmanuelle Riva and Jean-Louis Trintignant are both excellent but the story is so bleak.
