Looking for Yesterday by Marcia Muller

Looking for Yesterday is the latest in Marcia Muller's excellent "Sharon McCone PI" series, of which I seem to have missed a couple of recent installments. The story starts with a woman who had been acquitted of murdering a friend coming to Sharon to help find the real killer since many people believed she had gotten away with murder. But when Sharon starts digging into the case, her own life is suddenly in danger. Sharon McCone is an interesting character, with a unique (and messy) back story. She is now getting older and facing other transitions in her life. Which makes me want to see what happens with her next. I also like the mystery plots in this series, which are well thought out.
