Beautiful Day by Elin Hilderbrand

Having just attended a lovely family wedding this summer, Beautiful Day caught my eye on the library shelf because that is indeed what it is about. Youngest daughter Jenna is due to marry her true love, Stuart, on Nantucket. And the whole event has been planned in advance by Jenna's late mother, Beth, in a notebook she left for her youngest daughter. Beth thought of everything from the kind of knives to request on the registry list to the color of the bridesmaid dresses. And Jenna and her sister Margot followed it all faithfully.
But there's no accounting for the human element when planning a wedding. And the human element nearly derails this wedding. Members of the bridal party hooking up. A food allergy attack at the rehearsal dinner. Secret affairs and engagements coming out. It's all there along with the hors-d'oeuvres and champagne.

I'm glad to say that our family wedding was just as lovely but involved a lot less drama!
Beautiful Day is the perfect book for a lazy summer weekend.
