The Little French Bistro by Nina George

Marianne is a 60-something German woman stuck in an unhappy marriage to a man named Lothar.
He won't let her get a job, drive the family car, play the accordion. And he cheats on her.
But still she stays. One day in Paris, however, she decides she's had enough and jumps into the Seine
hoping to end it all. But a man saves her life, which sets her off on a journey to find herself and the life she always wanted. She travels to Brittany, literally the end of the world (Finisterre) and starts to realize all the gifts and talents she really has that both her domineering mother and husband had forced her to keep hidden all these years. Will she find love? Will she find happiness? Can she keep her past hidden and her jerk of a husband out of the picture? You'll have to read to find out.

Nina George is the author of the The Little Paris Bookshop. I actually preferred this book. Marianne is such a good person that you really want her to find love and happiness. Her journey keeps you turning the pages. I read the whole book in one day, sitting out in the park. An excellent choice for a summer read.
