The Last Anniversary by Liane Moriarty

I was on a quest for fluff to read while recuperating from a bad cold and came upon this old novel by Liane Moriarty (of Big Little Lies Fame). Anniversary centers around a baby found in Australia during the Depression whose parents just disappeared. The baby is taken in by Rose and Connie, 2 sisters, who name her Enigma. They all live on Scribbly Gum Island (Australia). When Connie dies, she unexpectedly leaves her house to a woman named Sophie -- the ex-girlfriend of one of Connie's relatives. Sophie moves to Scribbly where she is smitten with Callum (who, unfortunately for her is happily married to Grace, a new mom who is clearly suffering from postpartum depression, though no one except Callum seems aware of it). There are lots of characters and lots of subplots and a few dark twists and turns. It's not a bad story, though it might have benefited from a little editing in the middle. The ending is kind of eye-opening.
