 Lucca and her mother are barely getting by in rural North Carolina. Her mother is sick and Lucca has started stealing things to pay their bills, and she continues even after her mother dies. One day she gets caught and a man named Smith "rescues" her. He starts sending her out on jobs of his own under fake identities. They often involve stealing things or finding the "dirt" on someone.One day, Lucca is sent out to meet a guy named Ryan, though she's not sure what Smith wants from Ryan. He lives in a beautiful house and has the kind of life she always dreamed of. But one day, one of Ryan's friends brings his new girlfriend to a party and she says her name is Lucca and she's from rural North Carolina. She also could be the real Lucca's  twin. Lucca (the real one) begins to wonder what Mr Smith has planned next for her, and she thinks it won't be good. So she has to come up with a plan to save herself--and her future with Ryan.

It's a compelling story with lots of good plot twists.
