Unintended Consequences by Stuart Woods

Lawyer Stone Barrington wakes up in a fog in the American embassy in Paris with no clue of how he got there or why he's even in Paris, with a tuxedo no less. He discovers he's been invited to a party thrown by a French billionaire and has dinner plans with a woman he doesn't remember meeting on the flight over. It's all very puzzling but Stone decides to follow through on all these plans in hopes that it will jog his memory. Soon, someone is trying to kill him and he can't figure out why. Unintended Consequences is an entertaining romp with a little intrigue, leggy blondes, weekends at the country house, dining in 4-star restaurants, CIA operatives--just a typical week in the life of Stone Barrington. It would be a great beach book if the weather ever gets warm enough for going to the beach.
