Fatal Error by J A Jance

While waiting for a bunch of books I had requested to come in at the library, I came upon an old J A Jance "Ali Reynolds" novel that I hadn't read yet. Ali is just finishing up at the police academy when an old acquaintance from her news reporting days shows up. Brenda is not in good shape after having been dumped by her fiance Richard (a man she has never actually met). She wants Ali to find him, so she can be sure he is okay. But when Ali starts looking into Richard's life, she smells something fishy going on. When Richard gets murdered, Brenda becomes the prime suspect--even though she has disappeared. Ali joins forces with the overworked homicide detective working on Richard's murder to track down Brenda. It's a good summer read.
